Once you reach a certain age, experiences definitely take the place of material goods for birthday presents. A beautiful home cooked meal, a cake and champagne dinner party (thanks hubs, you know me so well), or a night away somewhere special.
This year, my husband spoiled me with a short break at The Hideaway. Located in the beautiful Angus countryside, this is truly a place to come to when you need to recharge. We had plans to go walking in the beautiful Angus Glens nearby but The Hideaway was so beautiful, so perfectly set up for our needs, so relaxing, that we didn't leave once during our short break. Instead, we meandered from the sauna to the bath, the bath to the hot tub, the hot tub to sitting in front of the wood burning stove with a glass of mellow red wine. It was the small touches that truly set this accommodation apart for me: A loaf of freshly baked bread on the kitchen table, a bottle of wine on the perfectly laid out dining table, luxury bubble bath and massage oil by the giant free standing tub (plenty big enough for two people). l think it's the first short break I have taken where l left feeling totally rejuvenated. I'm planning a return as soon as possible.
